Connect your reading to Claude and ChatGPT
ReadingRate exposes your reading through MCP, so Claude or ChatGPT can answer from your actual library once you authorise it: what you missed in the last chapter without spoiling ahead of your page, which passages support an interpretation you're forming, and what to read next based on your rated books and saved quotes rather than the consensus of the internet.

The useful uses are narrow and worth naming. Asking about a book you're midway through is one, because the assistant knows what page you're on and the internet doesn't. Testing an interpretation against the text is another, and it's the strongest: you supply the reading, it does the retrieval.
Forty tools are exposed, and the range is wider than most people expect. On your own reading: what you're currently reading and how far in, your history and stats, your goals, your quotes and the connections between them, quote recall, and your domain mastery. On the catalogue: search by meaning rather than keyword, full book details with all nine difficulty dimensions, comparisons between two books, similar-book lookup, award winners, and reading-time estimates. It can also write — log a session, update a book's status, add to your reading list, save a quote, and file an insight from the conversation itself.
There is a poetry set too: fetch a poem, search the corpus, log a poem as read, save or annotate individual lines, and keep a rotation going.
Conversations can be saved back into ReadingRate and exported to Notion or Markdown, so the thinking isn't stranded in someone else's chat history.
What it can't do
- Connecting an assistant is a membership feature. Reading the catalogue and tracking your reading are free.
- Assistants confidently invent quotations and page numbers. Anything attributed to the text should be checked against the text.
- Full-text search of a book needs you to have uploaded that book.
- Asking for a summary of a book you meant to read is the one use that reliably makes you a worse reader.
