Prepare for a book club from your own notes

Mark a book as a book club read, give it the meeting date, and ReadingRate works out how many pages a day you need — counting only the days you actually read on — and counts down on your dashboard. Before the meeting it generates talking points drawn from the quotes and reflections you saved for that book, and connects one to another book you've read where it can.

Available on iOS.

A normal reading projection tells you when you'll finish at your current pace. A book club inverts it: the date is fixed and the pace is the unknown. Counting real reading days matters, because someone who reads on weekday evenings has fewer days before Thursday than the calendar suggests.

Generic discussion questions produce a conversation anyone could have had without reading the book. Points drawn from what you actually marked are the opposite, and a connection to another book you've read is usually the most interesting thing said in the room, because nobody else has your reading history.

What it can't do

  • The book club date, countdown and talking points are in the iOS app; the web app doesn't have this flow yet.
  • The output is a handful of talking points, not a structured study guide — no separate sections for themes, character arcs or discussion questions.
  • It can only work from what you saved. Finish a book having captured nothing and it has nothing to build from.

Questions people ask

Can ReadingRate help me prepare for a book club?
Yes, in the iOS app. It calculates the pace you need to finish by the meeting date and generates talking points from the quotes and reflections you saved for that book.
