Save a quote by reading it aloud
Tap the microphone, read a passage aloud, and ReadingRate transcribes it and corrects it against the book itself — restoring exact wording and proper nouns that speech-to-text reliably mangles. Say the page number or who is speaking and both are pulled out into their own fields rather than left inside the quote. The saved passage is then tagged by theme and compared against everything else you've saved.

Underlining is fast to do and useless afterwards: a pencil mark is not searchable, and within a few months you will not remember what you marked or why. Typing a passage out is accurate and physically awkward, which is why people describe doing it and quietly stop.
Speech is the fastest capture there is, and the problem with it is literature: unusual names, archaic spellings, invented words. So the transcript is matched against the book's actual text where that text is available, and against the book's known characters and places otherwise.
Saying a line aloud also tends to fix it in memory better than marking it silently, which is a side benefit worth having.
What it can't do
- This is in the iOS app. On the web you can photograph a page, but it transcribes the whole page rather than just what you marked.
- Exact-wording correction needs the book's text to be available; otherwise it falls back to correcting proper nouns only.
- Speaking quotes aloud is impractical in a quiet carriage or a shared room.
- Nothing here decides what is worth keeping. That judgement is yours, and it is the part that matters.
