What a ReadingRate membership includes

Tracking your reading and browsing the catalogue are free, and stay free: logging sessions, adding books, difficulty scores, finish-date projection and bookshelf scanning cost nothing. Membership is €10 a month or €100 a year, starts with a 7-day free trial, and covers the parts that cost us per use — connecting Claude or ChatGPT to your library, the WhatsApp bot, the Omi pendant integration, and the deeper AI analysis.

The line is drawn where our costs are, not where the value is. Logging a page is free forever because it costs us nothing to store. A model reading your library and answering a question costs real money every time it runs, so that sits behind the membership.

There is also a Founding Member option: lifetime access, limited to 100 places, with the price rising by €3 for each one taken. It exists because early members carry more risk than late ones.

Your data is exportable whether you pay or not. A reading history you cannot take with you is not really yours, and a paywall on the exit is the wrong kind of lock-in.

What it can't do

  • The free trial is 7 days, not 30. Earlier copy on this site said 30 and was wrong; it has been corrected.
  • Free accounts get no AI calls at all rather than a small allowance, so the assistant integrations do nothing until you subscribe. The messaging bot is the exception, with a limited trial of messages.
  • Founding Member places are capped at 100 and the price rises as they go.
  • There is no Android app, at any tier.
