Ama Ata Aidoo was a Ghanaian author, poet, playwright, and academic whose work addressed gender, neocolonialism, and the African diaspora with intellectual rigor and formal innovation. She served briefly as Ghana's Minister of Education and spent years teaching at universities in Africa and the United States. Her plays, novels, and short stories are foundational texts in African feminist literature.
