Andreas Pflüger is a German writer born in Hamburg in 1960. He worked as a theatre director and as an author of radio plays, screenplays and documentaries before turning to novels. His early crime novels, including Ritual, appeared in the 1990s and 2000s. He became widely known for the Jenny Aaron trilogy, which began with Endgültig in 2016 and continued with Niemals and Geblendet. Its heroine is a blind former special-forces agent, and the books won the German Crime Prize and praise from critics for their tight, spare prose. Pflüger writes in short, precise sentences and builds fast, tightly plotted thrillers with strong female leads. In 2025 he published Kälter, a Cold War spy thriller set in 1989 about Luzy Morgenroth, a police officer on the island of Amrum with a hidden past. His books are published by Suhrkamp, and reviewers regularly rank him among the leading German thriller authors.
