Andrei Bely was a Russian novelist, poet, and theorist who was a leading figure of the Russian Symbolist movement. His novel Petersburg is widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of modernist fiction. He was also a devoted follower of Rudolf Steiner's anthroposophy, which influenced his later work.
