Andrew H. Plaks is Professor Emeritus of East Asian Studies at Princeton University and one of the most influential scholars of classical Chinese fiction. His book Archetype and Allegory in the Dream of the Red Chamber and his edited volume Chinese Narrative transformed the study of Chinese prose narrative in Western academia. He also produced a complete English translation of the Ta Hsueh and Chung Yung.
