Koine Greek
The Gospels circulated anonymously before the traditional attributions to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were attached in the second century, and modern scholarship treats those names as later ascriptions rather than signatures. Revelation names a John of Patmos who is generally held to be distinct from the evangelist. All were written in Koine Greek in the eastern Roman Empire.
