Arkady (1925-1991) and Boris (1933-2012) Strugatsky were Soviet Russian authors who together wrote some of the most important science fiction of the twentieth century. Their works — including Roadside Picnic, Hard to Be a God, and Stalker — combined philosophical depth with vivid storytelling, often working at the boundaries of what Soviet censorship would permit.
