Ashley Audrain worked in book publishing for fifteen years—at Penguin Canada and elsewhere—before publishing her debut novel. The Push (2021) became an instant word-of-mouth sensation: a psychological thriller about a mother who suspects her daughter of something terrible. The question of whether the mother is perceptive or paranoid drives the novel's unbearable tension. Audrain followed it with The Whispers (2024), another exploration of motherhood's darker corridors. She lives in Toronto with her family.
