Athol Fugard is a South African playwright, novelist, actor, and director whose work confronts the injustices of apartheid and its aftermath. His plays, including Blood Knot, Master Harold and the Boys, and Sizwe Bansi Is Dead, are central to the canon of anti-apartheid literature and South African theater.
