Benjamin Stevenson is an Australian crime writer and former stand-up comedian. He worked on the comedy circuit for years, including shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, before turning to fiction. His early novels include Greenlight and Either Side of Midnight. He became widely known for the Ernest Cunningham series, which begins with Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone (2022). The narrator is a mystery writer who speaks directly to the reader and lays out the rules of fair-play detection. The series continued with Everyone on This Train Is a Suspect and Everyone This Christmas Has a Secret. The books have sold over two million copies and appeared in many languages, and the first has been adapted for television. Stevenson's books mix classic puzzle plotting with comic timing from his stage career.
