Caroline Miller won the 1934 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction with "Lamb in His Bosom," a novel about hardscrabble pioneer life in antebellum Georgia. The American author drew on her own family's rural Southern heritage to create a work praised for its authenticity about women's lives on the frontier. Miller published only one other novel; her Pulitzer winner remains a document of a vanished regional culture.
