Claudia Rankine is a Jamaican-born American poet, essayist, and playwright. Her work explores race, identity, and the experience of Blackness in America through innovative hybrid forms that combine poetry, prose, visual art, and cultural criticism. Citizen: An American Lyric won the National Book Critics Circle Award and was a finalist for the National Book Award.
