Courtney Summers

Canadian

Courtney Summers is a Canadian author of young adult fiction. She was born in 1965 in Canada and began publishing in her twenties, starting with Cracked Up to Be in 2008. Her books deal with grief, abuse, and the ways girls are disbelieved or hurt, often in a direct, unsparing voice. Her other novels include Some Girls Are, This Is Not a Test, All the Rage, and the thriller Sadie. Sadie, published in 2018, alternates a girl's first-person hunt for her sister's killer with a podcast that tracks her trail. It received an Edgar Award for Best Young Adult and appeared on many best-of-year lists, and it brought her a much wider readership. Summers lives in Canada and has continued to write contemporary thrillers for teen and adult readers.
