C.P. Snow bridged science and literature, coining "the two cultures" to describe their dangerous separation. "In Their Wisdom" was shortlisted for the 1974 Booker Prize. His Strangers and Brothers sequence chronicled English power structures. Snow proved that a physicist could become a major novelist and public intellectual.
