D.G. Jones was a Canadian poet and critic who taught for many years at the Université de Sherbrooke. He is best known for his poetry collections and for Butterfly on Rock (1970), which made a distinctive contribution to the thematic criticism of Canadian literature. Jones was also a translator, rendering the poetry of several Québec writers into English, and co-founded the literary journal Ellipse.
