D.H. Lawrence was an English novelist, poet, and essayist whose work explored sexuality, instinct, and the dehumanizing effects of modernity. His novels include Sons and Lovers, Women in Love, and the notoriously banned Lady Chatterley's Lover. He is one of the most important English novelists of the twentieth century.
