American
Dalton Fury is the pen name of a retired U.S. Army officer who served as a squadron commander in Delta Force, the Army's elite counterterrorism unit. He led the Delta element during the 2001 Battle of Tora Bora in Afghanistan, the hunt for Osama bin Laden. His real name is withheld for security reasons. He described that operation in the nonfiction book Kill Bin Laden (2008), which became a bestseller. He then turned to fiction with the Kolt Raynor series, beginning with Black Site (2010) and continuing with Tier One Wild (2012) and later novels. His books combine fast-moving plots with operational detail drawn from his own career. The novels are aimed at readers of military thrillers by authors such as Vince Flynn and Brad Thor. His standing rests on his firsthand experience in special operations.
