Dan Simmons has written across science fiction, horror, thriller, and historical fiction. Hyperion and its sequels are his most acclaimed work, combining space opera with literary ambition. He also wrote the horror novels Carrion Comfort and The Terror, and teaches writing workshops based on his former career as an elementary school teacher.
