David Punter is a British scholar of Gothic literature and Romantic poetry who is professor of English at the University of Bristol. He is the author of numerous books on Gothic fiction and the postcolonial Gothic, and The Literature of Terror established him as the founding figure of Gothic studies as an academic discipline.
