Dubravka Ugrešić was a Croatian writer who lived in exile in the Netherlands after being targeted by Croatian nationalists for her anti-war stance in the 1990s. Her formally innovative novels and essays explore exile, memory, and the cultural politics of post-Yugoslav identity. She was awarded the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 2016.
