E.L. Konigsburg won the Newbery Medal twice—for From the Mixed-Up Files and again thirty years later for The View from Saturday. A chemist before she became a writer, she brought scientific precision and intellectual curiosity to children's fiction. In 1968, she had both the Newbery winner and a Newbery Honor book, an unprecedented feat.
