Fred Botting is a British scholar of Gothic literature and postmodern culture who has taught at Lancaster University and Kingston University. He is the author of Gothic, Making Monstrous, and Sex, Machines and Navels, and draws on poststructuralist and psychoanalytic theory to examine the cultural functions of Gothic excess.
