Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak

Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak is an Indian literary theorist and translator who holds the University Professor Chair at Columbia. Her translation of Derrida's Of Grammatology introduced deconstruction to English-speaking scholarship. She is one of the three founding figures of postcolonial studies and has devoted much of her career to subaltern studies and transnational feminist pedagogy.
