George Monteiro is Professor Emeritus of English and Portuguese and Brazilian Studies at Brown University. He has published extensively on Portuguese and American literature and their intersections, with particular attention to Fernando Pessoa, Eça de Queirós, and the influence of Poe on Iberian modernism.
