Gerald Brenan was a British writer and Hispanist who lived for many years in rural Andalusia. He is best known for The Spanish Labyrinth and South from Granada, combining deep personal knowledge of Spain with historical and literary analysis. He was associated with the Bloomsbury Group through his friendship with Lytton Strachey and Ralph Partridge.
