Gi-Wook Shin is William J. Perry Professor of Contemporary Korea and Director of the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center at Stanford University. His scholarly work covers Korean nationalism, ethnic nationalism in East Asia, and the sociology of colonial modernity. He is the author and editor of numerous volumes on Korean history and society.
