Hafez

Hafez (Khwāja Shams-ud-Dīn Muḥammad Ḥāfeẓ-e Shīrāzī) was a Persian lyric poet of the fourteenth century, regarded as the supreme master of the ghazal form. Born and buried in Shiraz, he is the most beloved poet in Iran, where his Divan is found in nearly every home. His pen name means 'one who has memorized the Quran.'
