Horace Walpole

Horace Walpole, 4th Earl of Orford, was an English writer, antiquarian, and politician. He is best known for The Castle of Otranto, which he presented as a found medieval manuscript and which became the founding text of Gothic fiction. He also built Strawberry Hill, a pioneering Gothic Revival house.
