Howard Jacobson won the 2010 Booker Prize for "The Finkler Question," a comedy about Jewishness, friendship, and identity. The British author has been called the English Philip Roth, writing comic novels about Jewish intellectual life with verbal exuberance. "J" earned another Booker shortlisting for its dystopian vision. Jacobson proves that serious fiction can also be very funny.
