Howard Zinn was an American historian, playwright, and social activist who taught at Boston University for 24 years. A World War II bombardier who became a lifelong peace activist, he participated in the civil rights movement alongside SNCC. A People's History of the United States has sold over three million copies and remains the most widely read alternative American history.
