Howard Phillips Lovecraft was an American writer of supernatural and weird fiction whose work has had an extraordinary posthumous influence. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he published primarily in pulp magazines during his lifetime and died in poverty. His Cthulhu Mythos stories and his aesthetic of cosmic indifferentism have reshaped the landscape of horror fiction.
