J. A. Baker was a British writer who spent his working life as a driver for the Automobile Association and his free time tracking peregrine falcons across the Essex countryside. He published two books — The Peregrine and The Hill of Summer — and remained almost entirely unknown until his work was rediscovered in the 2000s.
