Jacqueline Woodson's "Another Brooklyn" was a 2016 National Book Award finalist, a lyric novel about girlhood in 1970s Brooklyn. The American author has published more than thirty books for children, young adults, and adults, winning the National Book Award for her memoir-in-verse "Brown Girl Dreaming." Woodson writes about Black experience with attention to what is lost and what persists.
