James D. Watson is an American molecular biologist who co-discovered the double-helix structure of DNA with Francis Crick, for which they shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. The Double Helix, his personal account of the discovery, became one of the most influential and controversial science books of the twentieth century.
