Jayne Anne Phillips won the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction with "Night Watch," a Civil War novel about nurses and patients at a West Virginia asylum. The American author's debut story collection "Black Tickets" established her reputation for prose of Southern Gothic intensity. Phillips has written novels spanning American history from the Civil War to the aftermath of Jonestown.
