Jiaming Tang is a Chinese-American novelist based in Brooklyn, New York. He holds an MFA from the University of Alabama and was a 2022-23 Center for Fiction Emerging Writer Fellow. His short fiction and essays have appeared in AGNI, Lit Hub, and Joyland Magazine, and he has worked as a nonfiction editor at Black Warrior Review. His debut novel, Cinema Love (2024), follows a community of Chinese immigrants whose lives intersect at a movie theater that doubles as a secret meeting place for gay men, spanning three timelines from 1980s China to present-day New York's Chinatown. The novel won the Los Angeles Times' Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction, the Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction, and the Ferro-Grumley Award for LGBTQ Fiction, and received a starred review from Publishers Weekly. Tang writes as a queer immigrant author whose work centers hidden histories within Chinese diaspora communities.
