Jill Paton Walsh's "Knowledge of Angels" was shortlisted for the 1994 Booker Prize after she published it herself when mainstream publishers declined. The British author wrote novels for children and adults, often examining faith and reason through historical settings. Walsh also completed unfinished novels by Dorothy L. Sayers, extending the Lord Peter Wimsey series.
