Jonathan Howard, MD, is a neurologist and psychiatrist who serves as chief of neurology at Bellevue Hospital in New York City and as clerkship director in neurology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where he treats multiple sclerosis and other neuro-immune disorders. He trained at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, graduating in 2003. An associate editor at the science-communication site Science-Based Medicine, Howard had written about vaccine misinformation for years before the COVID-19 pandemic put the subject at the center of American politics. Working the wards at Bellevue through the pandemic's early waves, he began archiving the public statements of doctors who argued for herd immunity through mass infection rather than vaccination. That research became his first book, We Want Them Infected (2023), followed by Everyone Else Is Lying to You (2025), both examining how credentialed physicians shaped pandemic-era public health debate.
