Kwame Alexander is a poet, educator, and author who won the Newbery Medal for The Crossover. He has written over thirty-five books and founded several literary organizations. His work combines verse, hip-hop rhythm, and sports to reach young male readers who might not otherwise pick up a book of poetry.
