Lauren Roberts is an American author of young adult fantasy. She became known through BookTok, where readers shared her debut novel, Powerless, after she first posted it online. Published in 2023, the book opens The Powerless Trilogy, set in a kingdom where people born without powers are hunted and the elite rule. Its sequel, Reckless, followed in 2024, and the novella Powerful, which runs alongside the first book's events and follows the character Adena, appeared in 2025. Her books mix enemies-to-lovers romance with trials, danger and class conflict. Powerless reached the New York Times bestseller list, and the series has sold widely and drawn a large online fan community. A film adaptation has been announced. Roberts is part of a new group of authors whose careers began on social media and moved into traditional publishing, and her work is a recent example of how online readers can drive a fantasy series to bestseller status.
