"The Round House" (2012) won the National Book Award for its story of a boy investigating his mother's rape on a reservation. "The Night Watchman" (2020) won the Pulitzer Prize, drawing on her grandfather's fight against federal termination policy. Erdrich owns a bookstore in Minneapolis.
