Titus Lucretius Carus was a Roman poet and philosopher whose only known work, De Rerum Natura, is a didactic poem presenting Epicurean philosophy. Almost nothing is known of his life. His poem was admired by Cicero and Virgil but fell into obscurity during the Middle Ages before its rediscovery in 1417.
