Lydie Salvayre won the Prix Goncourt in 2014 for "Pas pleurer," a novel braiding her mother's memories of the Spanish Civil War with Georges Bernanos's witness to the same events. The French author, daughter of Spanish Republican refugees, writes about violence, madness, and language itself. Her work combines documentary impulse with formal experimentation.
