Mahmoud Darwish

Mahmoud Darwish was a Palestinian poet widely regarded as the national poet of Palestine. His work, which spans four decades, transformed the literature of exile and resistance into lyric poetry of universal resonance. He lived in exile for much of his life, in Beirut, Cairo, Tunis, and Paris, before returning to Ramallah in 1995.
