Malcolm X was an American Muslim minister and human rights activist who was one of the most influential figures of the civil rights era. Born Malcolm Little, he adopted the X to represent his unknown African ancestral surname. His autobiography, told to Alex Haley, is one of the most important nonfiction works of the twentieth century.
