Margaret Jull Costa has translated more than a hundred books from Spanish and Portuguese, making her one of the most important literary translators working in English. Her authors include José Saramago, Javier Marías, Fernando Pessoa, and Eça de Queiroz. Costa's translation of Marías's "A Heart So White" won the Dublin International Literary Award. She works closely with her authors when possible, producing translations that read as living English while remaining faithful to the originals.
