Marion Poschmann is a German poet and novelist whose work exists at the intersection of nature and consciousness. "The Pine Islands" (2017), shortlisted for the International Booker Prize, follows a German man to Japan after dreaming his wife betrayed him; he travels in the footsteps of the haiku poet Bashō while a young stranger tags along planning suicide. Poschmann's prose has the concentration of poetry.
